I was in both the choir and the servers guild of this church, many moons ago! It is a long time since I actually attended a service here, but I do visit the churchyard to attend to the grave of my family. It is sad to see so much damage having been done to memorials in there. Fortunately ours is intact and in original condition. However, all around is devastation, so many damaged and vandalised memorials. Over the years we have been fortunate to have had little stolen from the grave, i.e. flowers, but it has happened. Remember, a regular visit to clean and maintain the grave is all that is needed to maintain a standard. It's the least we can do.
A masonry Victorian Church with extensive graveyards.
It's my local church and has been in the life of my family for generations for weddings, funerals, christenings, etc. but I always preferred a "more charismatic" church experience, in Wigan_ until I popped into St. John's last year to find a new priest who had made a lot of changes. The church had become a livelier, happier, far more community oriented place. The priest and the people are lovely: warm, open an very welcoming. I stuck around and have become part of the life of the church. It's a wonderful, friendly, people oriented place_ as well as being a beautiful and historic place.
Don't take life to seriously because no one gets out alive... a place we all end up. Its a nice church and has heaps of history read some of the grave stones.
